The Tuckamore Lodge

Want to feel further from everything in your busy life? The Tuckamore Lodge in northwestern Newfoundland is a perfect escape. It is surrounded by wilderness and is incredibly quiet, despite the roar of crickets singing. The warmth of Barb Genge, the owner, is infectious and I felt happier as soon as I arrived and was welcomed by her. The lodge sits next to a large lake which reflected the trees like glass.

Newfoundland: Earth to Human

In July I went on a different type of tour of Newfoundland. If I had to put a name on it, I'd call it a “human-centered eco-tour.”  ‘Earth to Human’ was our theme as we explored Gros Morne National Park and Newfoundland’s Northern Peninsula, seeing breathtaking landscapes as well as visiting all types of sustainable projects from newly created ecological reserves to the lodges that thrive on the influx of tourism...
