I can’t say enough about the mushrooms, their perfume fills the air. If you like mushrooms, go to Lithuania. I traveled around Lithuania for two weeks and in every forest people were picking mushrooms and many would stand by the side of the road selling them until they were gone.
Hotel Labanoras was the nicest hotel I stayed in anywhere in Lithuania (though I didn’t stay in the expensive, grandiose 5 star establishments in Vilnius) and it only cost about 20 dollars per person, per night. After my friend left, I went back on my own and spent 2 more beautiful nights there and explored the area even more. When I left Hotel Labanoras, I picked up an old woman a long way from town who was hitchhiking. She was a mushroom picker, and when she parted she pulled the tattered muslin cloth off her bucket of exotic mushrooms and handed me a large one with a big smile.
