Les Deux Tours in Marrakesh, Morocco is a five star hotel with a beautiful garden located in the Palmeraie area on the outskirts of the city. We were given a warm welcome and then a tour by the ‘guest experience’ director and the manager also stopped by to say hello. They also both gave us their cards with their direct numbers in case we had any issues – a very nice touch. The hotel has 42 rooms and suites, some with their own plunge pools – including ours! Our suite had a sitting room with fireplace, a single bed in a nook off of it, (the perfect hiding spot for a child) a bedroom with a huge comfy bed, and a large bathroom in marble with both a tub and a shower. There was also the aforementioned pool and a couple of lounge chairs in a courtyard outside. A bottle of sparkling wine welcomed us, along with some sweet and savory snacks.
The architecture of the place is amazing with its high arched ceilings, Moroccan lamps, and many stunning details throughout. The bar has a fireplace in the middle where you can see the flames from both sides, many cozy corners and a terraced area down to the garden. There are so many nice seating areas around the property – from the gardens to indoors. My favorite was tucked away behind a line of beaded curtains with deep benches in a large oblong with tall mirrors and tribal designs painted on the walls.
The gardens make the place unique with nice paths all around, pools and fountains with small turtles sunning themselves, birds singing and also kitchen gardens where they’re growing some of the vegetables and herbs for the restaurant. There are a few beds scattered about where you could take a nap in the sun, and various chairs, even some hanging from trees. A large, heated pool with many sunbeds surrounding it was quite busy even though it was early December and only in the 70’s.
As part of The Smith’s hospitality program for a 2 night stay the hotel made us a generous picnic basket to eat in the garden on our second day. It had a bottle of sparkling wine, water, salad, sandwiches, fruit and dessert.
The main restaurant, Salammbo, has many plush chairs as well as a large patio to the wide lawn. The garden paths and stairs are lit by candles at night for a romantic walk over. With its soft lighting and music, it had a great atmosphere. The food and service were very good, and the chef sent out an amuse bouche to begin the dinner. The lamb tagine was delicious and there are an array of European and Asian dishes on the menu as well as the Moroccan.
The property also has a spa with a hammam, an outdoor restaurant for lunch – La Pergola, and a shuttle into the main square in Marrakesh.
One of our favorite things was the plush bed which must have had a pillow top and had a soft duvet with high thread count sheets. It was a luxurious experience to sleep there.
The other best part was that we were able to use our free night from IHG at the property. Many of the places where you can redeem the free night are not nearly as nice as this one, so we felt very lucky to be there and would definitely go back.
