In an ocean of sand known as the Mojave Desert, lies a city that bills itself as 'The Entertainment Capital of the World' and when describing Las Vegas, that's not too far from the truth.

For over sixty years, Vegas has been America's dirty little (not-so) secret, considered a monument to hedonism, spectacle and indulgence. But there are many sides to this entertainment behemoth and although sin is definitely one of them, romance can be found throughout the city. In this case, romance doesn't have to be a quiet dinner next to a roaring fire. It can be fun, exciting, decadent, and yes, even a little bit naughty.

There are many hotels along the Vegas strip that have different themes and vary in size from the small to the enormous. We stayed at The Planet Hollywood Resort (www.planethollywoodresort.com ), which is a great choice as it's big and flashy both inside and out, but not so gargantuan that it takes twenty minutes to walk through the lobby. By Las Vegas standards, it's also easy on the wallet; the savings can then be used at their Spa by Mandara. Their popular service, 'The Ceremony of Love' is a couples bathing ritual and dual massage; It comes highly recommended.

Planet Hollywood also boasts the Miracle Mile Shops which is a mall connected to the property, where couples can browse for many items to spice things up including infinite amounts of chocolates and two different lingerie stores, 'Fredericks of Hollywood' and 'Victoria's Secret'.

This is a truly unique experience where you and your significant other can have all the fun of actually jumping out of a plane without the fear. An instructor gives a quick lesson on the moves involved in doing the activity and then after getting into some flight suits, you're off floating over a large fan that simulates a skydive. It's something that will be talked about for the rest of the trip.

Ghostbar is a stunning spot to have a drink and ogle the brightness of the Las Vegas nightlife.

If outdoor adventure is the thing for you and your main squeeze, Pink Jeep Tours (www.pinkjeep.com ) is something not to be missed. A custom made, bright pink large jeep picks you up at your hotel and a well-versed guide drives you into the desert for a variety of different excursions. One of the day trips they offer includes visiting an actual goldmine aptly named 'El Dorado'. The Pink Jeep Tours show travelers a different and fascinating side of Las Vegas.

However, if lounging by the pool is more inviting, you and your honey can head to Tao Beach which is the 'trendy' section of the Venetian Pool area (www.taolasvegas.com). Complete with cabanas and comfortable lounge chairs, a dj pumps out music while you lie next to your travel companion in the sun and let things between you get hotter all by themselves. They also make killer cocktails!

A perfect show for couples to catch is Cirque Du Soleil's 'The Beatles - Love' (www.cirquedusoleil.com/love ), which is an incredible acrobatic spectacle by a very talented cast. This stunning show paints a live picture of the Beatles history, complete with the songs that everyone knows and enjoys. The show also involves the audience at times and takes place in a gorgeous theater where there are seemingly no bad seats.

Las Vegas has some of the best cuisine the world has to offer and it doesn't have to be excessively expensive either. A truly great place is the Le Village Buffet at the Paris Hotel (www.parislasvegas.com). A tremendous amount of cuisine goes through there and the quality is second to none. Every dish tastes as if it was exclusively made at a gourmet restaurant to order. Chefs and servers man stations that have anything you can think of from eggs and toast, to seven different kinds of fish and crab, different meats and cheeses and a variety of desserts that will have any traveler rolling home.Desert Romance, the Mojave Desert, The Entertainment Capital of the World, Las Vegas romance, Planet Hollywood Resort, Ceremony of Love, Vegas Indoor Skydiving, Ghostbar, Cirque Du Soleil, The Beatles - Love, Le Village Buffet, the Paris Hotel, Jonathan Hiltz For a great brunch head to the buffet between 10:00-11:00 AM.

If you're looking for a more romantic atmosphere LAVO at the Palazzo Hotel has spectacular Tuscan cuisine and at night you can sit on the outdoor patio and enjoy Treasure Island's 'Pirate Ship' show across the street, complete with sailing ships, large fireworks and explosions. With it's large portions as well as an extensive wine list, LAVO does it part to help make your dinner a romantic success story (www.palazzolasvegas.com/lavo).

Over the years Las Vegas has been known for many things and although romance is not usually at the top of the list, couples can confidently go there knowing they'll have a fun and romantic experience. After all, having enough to do in Las Vegas is never a gamble.
