My roommate and I are tentatively discussing going on a cruise sometime in March, as it will be her last spring break of college. (Living in Florida,  a cruise can be something of a budget vacation because you don't have to worry about getting to the port-- you just have a friend drop you off.)

Any information about destinations/cruise lines/trips on the extremely cheap side is appreciated.

I was inspired by this article: http://intravelmag.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=207&Itemid=1&ed=8 to apply for my passport NOW! even though it seems much too early to be doing so.

I'm not sure where you're looking to go exactly, but Carnival Cruises out of Florida are on sale right now, and I also always recommend stopping by STA Travel - even if you don't book your trip through them, they're very good at helping you find the best tours/packages/what-have-you for a student budget.

If you go to San Juan, Puerto Rico--- a good way to drink for free is to go to the visitor's center! Free Rum!!!
